Description

A survey of three of the current evidence-based treatment modalities for children and youth with significant treatment needs and risks will be presented by the leaders in those modalities. In this session, a hybrid panel will briefly review DBT-K (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for Kids), the ARC (Attachment, Regulation and Competency) Framework and TF-CBT (Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), with an emphasis on what makes the interventions effective for the populations to be served by the OITP. Drs Alan and Armida Fruzzetti (DBT-K), Dr. Margaret Blaustein (ARC Framework) and Dr. Carole Swiecicki (TF-CBT) will discuss the key principles of their interventions in the context of how they have been utilized in a range of settings.

Dr. Laurel Johnson of Kinark Child and Family Services will moderate the panel. In this structured overview, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from the experts in these modalities and gain an understanding of how treatment, the treatment milieu, and the approaches within organizations offering these modalities can change and become more effective.
