Measurement-Based Care (MBC) - the routine use of client-reported measures to monitor clinical outcomes and guide treatment - is an evidence-based practice that can enhance client engagement and care quality. This workshop shares insights from the Child Development Institute (CDI) and agencies participating in the MBC Accelerator Project (MAP), a collaborative initiative to scale the use and benefits of MBC through co-creating a common approach to implementation and shared learning. Aimed at empowering clinicians and agency leaders seeking strategies to support MBC initiatives in their own clinical practices, this workshop:
1. Introduces MAP, highlighting a consensus-building framework used to support measure selection and early implementation learnings.
2. Shares a case study from CDI’s Learning Disabilities & Mental Health Counselling program, highlighting staff and client testimonials and key considerations
3. Engages participants in an interactive exercise to apply key principles for reviewing measures suited for diverse CYMH populations and programs.
Learning Objectives
1. Explore a multi-agency initiative to accelerate the use and benefits of measurement-based care (MBC), including strategies for consensus-building and scaling a shared implementation approach.
2. Learn from the Child Development Institute’s journey embedding MBC into their counselling services, including implementation adaptations for their Learning Disabilities & Mental Health (LDMH) Counselling program, approach to integrating MBC into treatment planning, and vision to use outcomes to demonstrate impact and align with strategic goals.
3. Engage in a practice-based exercise to apply key principles for reviewing MBC measures, and identify and validate 3-5 measures applicable to community child and youth mental health settings.
