Neurodivergent youth experience alarming rates of mental health challenges, yet many organizations feel ill equipped to support their needs. Enter INVEST — a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, strengths-based model of counselling grounded in evidence and informed by two decades of clinical practice and supervision by Dori Zener, MSW, RSW. Developed in collaboration with neurodivergent individuals, INVEST rejects deficit-based views and instead celebrates neurodivergent and intersectional identities. Participants will learn how to adapt their approach to identify each youth’s unique information-processing style, set collaborative goals, and establish trust using culturally safe, identity-affirming strategies. This presentation offers practical tools to enhance confidence and competence when supporting neurodivergent youth, fostering psychological safety, belonging, and meaningful engagement.
