Irene Vitoroulis is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Her SSHRC- and CIHR-funded research focuses on migrant and refugee children, adolescents, and families, emphasizing family integration, peer relationships, identity-based bullying and discrimination, belonging, and mental health. Using methods and community partnerships, she examines how families, schools, and community contexts shape adjustment and resilience during settlement in Canada. She works with partner organizations across Ontario and Quebec to co-develop culturally safe, identity-affirming, policy-relevant applied evidence that strengthens supports in education, settlement, and child and youth mental health services. She leads the Culture, Diversity, and Youth Development Lab.
