Name
(4C) Mobile Behaviour Treatment Team (MBTT) - A Collaborative Approach to Supporting Challenging Behavioural Needs within the Child Welfare System
Description
The Mobile Behaviour Treatment Team (MBTT) has been an 11 year partnership between Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions (SMFC) and Mackenzie Health/ Centre for Behaviour Health Sciences (CBHS).
The objectives of the team are to:
- Return and keep children and youth in their home community.
- Reduce the level of care the children and youth require (e.g. group care to family-based care).
- Provide an innovative service for children and youth that often fall within the gaps of service.
- Provide better treatment outcomes for children and youth in care.
- Be fiscally responsible.
Learning Objectives
1. Understand how an innovative service model can contribute to stability in the home environment for children and youth with complex needs.
2. Understand how the child welfare system (or any single service) is not equipped to provide all the services needed for complex children and youth.
3. Understand how complexity of needs encompasses both the child/youth needs as well as the complexity of the environment in which they live.
