(C3-1) Lightning Talk | Interwoven Journeys: Upholding Immigrant Children’s Rights and Mental Health Through Community Action
Description

Immigrant children navigate complex journeys shaped by displacement, identity, and belonging. “Interwoven Journeys” explores how community-driven approaches can uphold their rights and strengthen their mental health. Rooted in compassion and justice, this topic highlights how trauma, cultural dislocation, and systemic inequities impact children’s wellbeing, and how collective action can foster healing and resilience. When communities come together through culturally responsive programs, mentorship, and advocacy, they not only safeguard children’s rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child but also create environments where young newcomers feel seen, valued, and supported. From schools to settlement agencies, every system must work interdependently to ensure immigrant children have equitable access to safety, education, and emotional wellness. By weaving together lived experience, community knowledge, and policy change, we can co-create a future where immigrant children thrive with dignity and hope.
